Geothermal Heat Pumps

Geothermal Heating & Cooling Systems, Geothermal Drilling & Installation Contractors servicing Connecticut

Geothermal heat pumps, also referred to as ground source heat pumps (GSHP) are electrically powered systems, that utilize the stored green energy from the earth. Providing geothermal heating and cooling for residential or commercial use.

Geothermal heat pump systems are eco-friendly heat pumps that extract the earth’s consistent temperature to provide consistent heating and cooling as well as hot water for a building.  DEPCO Comfort is a licensed contractor for geothermal drilling and installation throughout Connecticut.

In winter, geothermal heat pumps use the heat from warmer ground which is circulated through the buried pipes into the heat exchanger.  (See How Geothermal Works) The green energy produced is used to heat the building interior, hot water and radiant flooring.

In summer the geothermal pump reverses the process.  Hot air is pulled from the building through the heat exchanger into the pipes.  Here is where the heat is dispersed from the cooler ground energy.  Heat removed in the summer can be utilized as no-cost energy for hot water heating.

Geothermal Heat PumpsGeothermal Heat Pumps offer great benefits:

• Can cut heating & cooling energy consumption up to 50%
• Approximately same size as conventional heating & cooling unit
• Geothermal heat pumps operate very quietly
• A Geothermal heat pump is highly efficient, low cost needing minimal maintenance
• Earth friendly geothermal heat pumps do not disrupt eco-systems
• Geothermal heat pumps maintain a consistent temperature
• Geothermal heating and cooling systems provide predictable costs, unlike fossil fuel
• Geothermal pump system is safer with no open flames, flammable fuels or carbon monoxide risks
• DEPCO geothermal warranties exceed those of traditional heating systems
• Federal and state rebates available to defray costs of installing a geothermal system
